Mastering the Mind
An extract from the
Introduction
You may have read “The 7 Proven Steps” before buying this
e-book. In that e-book, seven key steps are described as being
key to personal growth. This e-book, “Mastering the Mind”,
seeks to go further and deeper into these key steps, exploring
why they are so important and offering you lots of more
profound insights and ideas for application.
In the field of personal development, core ideas often need
to be explored over and over again. Just to read them may only
give a superficial understanding. To really get the benefit,
you will need to go over and over them again, apply them in
your lives, learn from them, see where they work for you and
where you get stuck. Then revisiting them gives you a chance to
make a breakthrough to a deeper level of awareness.
I think one should beware the attitude that, because you
have read this before somewhere, it is not new and therefore
does not merit reading about again. Yet it is that deeper
reflection on old wisdoms that pays the greatest results. I
would also suggest that the simplest are the most powerful.
Why master your
mind?
What you think, you are. What goes on in
your mind, plays itself out in your life. What you are aware of
or focus on, grows and becomes more important, both what you
want and what you do not want. Thinking that this is what you
do not want makes it larger in your life. That is the
Law of Attraction. What you think about, you
draw to you, both positively and negatively. So, you need to
learn how to manage and master your mind.
Mastery of mind enables us to focus on what we want, to
create that which we most want. From a personal and spiritual
growth perspective, that is when we can focus one-pointedly on
what we most aspire to that is beneficial for our higher
selves, such as the achievement of our potential, the
realisation of inner contentment, the discovery of lasting love
and happiness, and so on. The ability to master our minds
enables us also to manage our “ego” selves, the limited part of
us that so often takes us where we don’t want to go and
disrupts our contentment, satisfaction and ability to achieve
what is highest in our endeavours.
It is perfectly possible to centre your awareness, to so
manage your mind that you can focus one-pointedly on that is
which uplifts you and enables you to feel joy and
contentment.
Our minds have the potential for us to experience pure
heaven or pure hell right now. We don’t have to die to get
that. It’s already here right now.
What this e-book teaches, supported by the others in the
series, is the basic skills to enable you to distinguish
between the one and the other in how you choose to live your
life and how to apply yourself to experience “heaven”. The rest
will be down to you, reflecting on and revisiting these
concepts over and over again and above all deliberately
practicing and applying them in your lives till bit by bit, and
then in bigger steps and then by breakthroughs, you get to
experience more “heaven” in your life.
In this e-book, we will start by exploring a range of key
tools in developing self-awareness as a key first step to
managing the mind, and then we will introduce other tools for
managing your state of mind so that you may achieve more
contentment, equilibrium and purposefulness in your life. These
methods may be used in tackling many of the issues raised in
our whole e-book program. The aim is to work towards a steady
state of centeredness where you are not caught up in what
occurs and are not thrown off course. Additionally you can use
these methods to recover your equilibrium after some upset or
irritation. In that steady state, you can move to experiencing
more joy and effectiveness in your life. In fact you can make
them a practice if that is what you prefer.
They are very simple, simple even to the point of
obviousness, and yet so simple that we’ve become very, very
skilled at ignoring them, but in their implications they are
very profound. Bear in mind that in reality you are simply
re-membering old skills, since at our core we are already
complete. We just need to see through the veil of our ego to
the truth of that, each in our own way, according to our own
path in life.
