John Gloster Smith

I facilitate people’s personal and professional development, through group facilitation, teaching, coaching, writing and blogging. I work from a Humanistic and Transpersonal perspective.  I hold a Post-graduate Certificate in Education and BA (2:1) from Oxford University, and I am an NLP Master Practitioner and accredited as a coach with the Association for Coaching.

I trained extensively in Gestalt Therapy at Metanoia Institute in London, and in hypnotherapy and NLP, latterly with Chris Howard. I have studied Siddha Yoga with Swami Chidvilasananda. I’ve been developing people’s potential for many years, and it is my passion. For the last 20 years I’ve led open personal development programs, provided life and executive coaching and developed leaders in business, with a specialism in the use of awareness and in the art of facilitation as its medium. Previously to that I was a Head of Department at Mill Hill School, North London, taught History and Politics, and organised and ran the school’s entire examinations system.

I am author of “Connecting to Inner Peace” (EP Books, 2010), am married to Akasha Lonsdale, a psychotherapist, author and Interfaith Minister, and I have two grown-up sons. I am, with Akasha, a director of The Empowering Partnership Ltd. I live in Wiltshire, England and also part-time in France in Laparade, Lot-et-Garonne.

“John is without doubt the most professional and committed person I have worked with in a long time. He also makes all his clients feel welcomed and wanted. He always gets great feedback from clients he has worked with and seminars he has run.” Lin Buchanan, Managing Consultant, Right Coutts management consultancy.

“John is an outstanding consultant, a consumate professional and invaluable asset in supporting both organisational and individual change. Embracing the needs of the individual he is working with, John draws from a vast repertoire of skills and knowledge to achieve the desired goals.Jennifer Ibbetson, Director International Account Management, Right Management.

“I have learned as much from your way of presenting the workshop as I have from the work done with and within the group. Your affirmation and accepting approach has taught me how to create a “safe emotionally” environment for real life-changing work to take place”.

“I knew from the first meeting that we would get on. John is a person who to me, would get on with anyone, he makes you feel relaxed. We started our sessions, very relaxed approach, not pressing, in other words, not being over loaded with questions. As each session went on, my opinion of myself was changing, I was being shown how I was reacting in certain situations, and now I was being shown the tools to deal with these. Overall very pleased with the sessions with John and would recommend John to anyone who was in similar situations“. D. Francis, Business manager

“John worked quickly and professionally with great poise and courage. He supported and challenged me in equal measure and I was through his skill able to make a breakthrough in my own development. John works ethically and pragmatically in a way which is likely to be experienced positively by pretty much any client“. Andrew Jones, Executive coach
